10 Products I Use for Food Photography
Hey friends! Today I’m going to share the best 10 products I use to take my own food photography. As a bakery owner, I have learned first hand the best way to keep on top of our social media is to manage as much of the content creation as we can in-house, as it allows us to be able to make quick decisions, launch new products in a single day and consistently keep advertising with fresh content.
These are my favourite products that make food photography a whole lot easier when managing your social media content for your business. Heads up: this post contains affiliate links so if you make a purchase, thanks for your support!
If you want to start taking your content creation seriously, there is no better camera than the Sony a7iii. I use this camera with a 16-35mm wide-angle lens to capture life in the bakery in my Day in the life videos on Youtube. This is the perfect set up to capture videos in a small space, with a wide-angle lens making it easy to capture more.
2. Neewer Selfie Light
If there’s one item under $100 I’d say everyone should have in their creator kit, it is this light. I remember seeing this light linked by Alix Earle when she was on her rapid rise as a creator, and I had just started making videos. It was the first piece of equipment I invested in to make better videos and has made the world of difference to my videos by offering a strong, even light. You won’t regret this purchase! I would even recommend buying two (so you can keep one charging while you create content and swap them out).
3. Neewer Lighting Kit
Once I started my Youtube channel, I knew I needed to upgrade my lighting system from the clip on light to something more hefty for a full kitchen setup. This year I will be filming and publishing baking tutorials and for that, I require a full lighting setup to ensure even lighting when I film for tv. This Neewer lighting kit is an affordable solution for food content creators looking to step up their lighting game but not spend a fortune.
4. Rode Microphone
Next up is audio. Because I film a lot of content as video rather than photography, I made sure to invest in Rode microphones. This podcast microphone is perfect for filming voiceovers and produces a really clean, quality of sound. This one was a bit of a splurge for me but I know I needed it to step up my voiceovers and ensure the Bake With Brooki classes are the best they can be.
5. Neewer Overhead food photography
If there’s one product I am over the moon about, it is finding this overhead photography setup. For years I have been consuming food content online with the picture perfect overhead shot, unsure how the creator was making it look so easy. Well, this is it!
6. Laptop Stand
Another great find for editing food photos and videos is this laptop stand, which I use in my office to make editing on my laptop feel similar to working on a desktop. These small tweaks make all the difference when streamlining your editing process to make for a quick turn around.
7. Monitor
Now that we’re increasing production at Bake with Brooki, our entire kit has had an upgrade. One of my favourite new features in the kitchen studio is this plug in monitor, which allows me to see an immediate playback of what the camera is filming.
8. Phone Chest & Head Mount
One of my lovely staff members had the idea to send me a link to this head and chest mount, which is the best $20 I’ve spent to capture my day in the life of a bakery owner videos on Tiktok! This makes POV videos so much easier to film solo.
9. The Ultimate Power Board
Another affordable upgrade to my home office setup was this power board. This board allows me to charge my laptop, camera batteries, lights and so much more, all at the same time. Easily the best $38 I’ve spent in my office!
10. Magsafe Charger
Lastly, I’m so happy to have this magsafe charger in my kit for a huge year ahead of filming. Having this charger allows me to keep my phone charged as well as having my microphone plugged in for filming at the same time. Iconic!
